Tom Ford scores big with his first film

It’s hardly shocking that debut filmmaker and mega fashion designer Tom Ford’s A Single Man is a sweet beauty of a movie to look at, rife with every color of the rainbow. There are the sedated earth-tone palates that consumed the era, where muted reds and browns ran the gamut. There’s the jet-black mascara oozing from the eyelashes of the cool-as-a-cucumber women in mini dresses and go-go boots. And then there’s that awe-inspiring shot of a pink and purple Los Angeles sunset; a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment that happens when the sky turns all shades of wonderful and everyone in the city seems at peace...

Let’s Make a Blockbuster!

Avatar, the movie whose computer generated cast looks like the outcome of a Smurf mating with a Thundercat, has been in theatres for a little over a month and it’s already the second highest grossing movie of all time, right behind Titanic. Let’s all give a slow clap to James Cameron, who is now responsible for directing the top two highest grossing movies ever, one right after the other. What an asshole.

Avatar and Titanic are the only two movies in the Top 10 Highest Worldwide Box Office Grosses of All Time that are not a part of franchises, which makes James Cameron all the more golden for coming up with an original premise for a movie that didn’t have to be a book, graphic novel or Disneyland ride first...
